Now this was an unexpected twist! Jak II turns the series into a bleak dystopia called Haven City, where Jak becomes the subject of twisted experiments by the ruler of the city. Freed by Daxter, Jak embarks on a quest for revenge against this leader, Baron Praxis. The platforming in this game controls exactly like the original and elements such as jet boarding are still very prominent. This game puts a ton of more emphasis on combat compared to the original adding guns and a psychotic super-mode in the form of Jak's dark eco self. You'll also be driving around hovercraft in missions as well, which are a lot different from the speeder from the original. The characters in this game are awesome as well. The main cast from the original is in this one as well, but the spotlight is on the new characters like Krew, an obese crime lord and classic video game villain, and his bad-ass right-hand man Sig, who will sometimes join you on missions. There's also this sarcastic parrot that makes for a great opponent for Daxter in exchanging witty comebacks. There's a few notable rebels that Jak sides with that are likable as well. This is an awesome game, and I'd put it between 21-30 on my fav games ever. (owned and completed. Accurate rating is 9.00)
